Tiger Roll and Tsunami Roll at Edo
Just a quick public service announcement reminding everyone that Edo is still the best sushi restaurant in Jackson.

Sofia's sushi
Sofia and her chipmunk cheeks agree.

Denise feeding Penelope Chicken Teriyaki
So would Penelope if she had sushi. Not quite ready for that yet, so she had Chicken Teriyaki instead.

"Oh yes, sushi... you will be mine!"
Oops, in my haste to post as many Nifty Adventures posts as I could before the next guy started taking shots and posting them in the discussion thread, I missed this outing. When Susie was still here for Christmas we went out to Haru, I mean “Edo”, Japanese Restaurant. Haru is no more. New management has come in and renamed it Edo. Same location, same menu, same great ingredients–only a name change. Not sure why, but there it is. The new management had happened a while back, and we’d been to Haru/Edo a few times since and been happy with the food and service, but the official name change is recent. » Continue Reading…

It's art because it's out of focus.
We never need an excuse to go to Haru, but Susie being in town is a guaranteed occasion for a Haru visit. This will make no sense to you unless you’ve experienced it like we have, but Susie and I agree that sushi at Haru is better than sushi in D.C. By that we don’t mean that it’s better than all sushi in D.C., since it’s not only possible but probable that we haven’t eaten the best D.C. has to offer. But the fact that Susie has been to numerous sushi joints in D.C. and thinks Haru is better than all of them speaks very highly of Haru. Denise and I enjoyed our D.C. sushi at Sushi Taro but didn’t come away from that experience rating it higher than Haru. At this point I’m confident in saying that Haru is better than most D.C. sushi places and definitely a better bang-for-the-buck than all. Jackson is just full of surprises. Who would’ve thought that sushi in Jackson would be that good? » Continue Reading…

Haru II roll--tuna, salmon, avocado inside, white tuna and masago on top
In what promises to be one of many posts about Haru Japanese Restaurant since it’s our favorite sushi place in town and a standby whenever we want to eat out but can’t get excited about any other place, we had Denise’s birthday dinner at Haru. It’s our favorite because the prices are on par with other sushi shops in Jackson, the fish and other ingredients are just as fresh as others, portions are more generous than most (compare nigiri from Haru to Little Tokyo for instance, and you’ll feel ripped off by Little Tokyo’s skimpy portions), and service is good. Last but not least the food is delicious! » Continue Reading…
